WASHINGTON COUNTY, VIRGINIA PUBLIC HEARING
Public hearings will be held on the following proposed ordinance by the Planning Commission of Washington County, Virginia, on Monday, August 23, 2021, 7:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as may be heard and by the Board of Supervisors of Washington County, Virginia, on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, 6:30 p.m. or as soon thereafter as may be heard. Both public hearings will be held in the Board of Supervisors Auditorium at the County Administration Offices located at 1 Government Center Place; Abingdon, Virginia.
An Ordinance to Amend Section 66-1242 of the Code of the County of Washington, Virginia, to Allow Large-Scale Solar Energy Projects in the Residential Districts (R-1 and R-2) with Special Exception Permit
Adoption of the ordinance would allow large-scale solar energy projects to be installed in the residentially-zoned districts but only after Board of Supervisors’ review of the application for each such project and determination that issuance of a special exception permit would be appropriate, on a case-by-case basis.
