WASHINGTON COUNTY, VA PUBLIC HEARING
The Washington County, Virginia, Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on the following proposed ordinance at its regular meeting on September 14, 2021, at 6:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as may be held, in the Board of Supervisors Auditorium at 1 Government Center Place; Abingdon, Virginia 24210.
An Ordinance to establish Mount Rogers Regional Cigarette Tax Board and to establish a cigarette tax in the County by addition of Article III, Division VII to Chapter 2 and of Article X, Division II to Chapter 58 of the Washington County Code of Ordinances
If adopted, the ordinance would establish a cigarette tax in the county at an amount not to exceed the amount proposed in the ordinance, which is two cents per cigarette. Also, it would authorize the County to join the Mount Rogers Cigarette Tax Board for administration of the tax.
