Washington County, Virginia, hereby gives notice of public hearings regarding a proposed ordinance. The public hearings will be held in the Board of Supervisors Auditorium at the County Administration Offices located at 1 Government Center Place; Abingdon, Virginia. The Planning Commission hearing will be held on January 27, 2020 at 7 p.m., or as soon thereafter as may be heard, after which the Commission will decide a recommendation for consideration by the Board of Supervisors. The Board hearing will be held on February 11, 2020, at 6:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as may be heard, after which the Board will decide whether to adopt the proposed ordinance.
An Ordinance to amend Sections 205 and 948 of Chapter 66 of the Code of the County of Washington, Virginia, to allow temporary dwelling pending construction of permanent dwelling in the Shoreland-Recreation (SR) Zoning District and to clarify storage regulation for camper trailers and recreational vehicles
Adoption of the ordinance would permit residential use of camper trailers and recreational vehicles in the Shoreland-Recreation (SR) Zoning District (surrounding South Holston Lake) on a temporary basis while a permanent structure is under construction pursuant to a building permit. In addition, the ordinance would clarify that camper trailers and recreational vehicles may be stored in any zoning district but only on parcels that have an existing main use.
